Excludes appliance-only plans and excludes any equipment older than what the sample contract states as an age or condition limit. Home warranty plans, pricing, and covered items are filed and regulated state by state. Some providers do not operate in every state, and some states restrict which items or plan structures can be sold. Always confirm your state's specific contract before comparing prices across providers.

Providers were scored on the published dollar cap specific to HVAC system repair or replacement, whether the contract states a maximum covered equipment age or explicitly covers systems regardless of age, and whether the contract requires the homeowner to produce maintenance documentation to preserve coverage.
